Olympics

The Olympics are wonderful venue.  Its so amazing to what the human body can accomplish.  Its also wonderful to see the 204 different countries competing together.  No matter who wins, no matter who loses, it’s a great way to see a great part of humanity.

It is a shame they cost so much, especially in such a time of global recession, but they are fully worth it.  I do wish it was easier to catch certain events, as they only show a handful on the prime time rebroadcast of the Games at night.  Its funny to find myself rooting for my own home team, considering how I feel about this country, but I know they got it right, and all the Olympians all seem like great people.

The Games renew my slacking faith in humanity by a great bit.  With the Chik-Fil-A vs. Gay Marriage fiasco in the rearview, its wonderful to see humans accomplish something that has no hate involved.  Sure, some dreams are crushed by not getting the medal they wanted, but the true competitors, the true Olympians always congratulate their fellow competitor.

I hope I can see an Olympic Games in person someday.  The next summer games are in Rio, and it would neat to see that great city of Brazil, but we’ll see.  Times, I’m sure, will continue to be rough, as we are just hoping to get by as of now, but you never know how things will turn around if you try hard enough.

I would like to finish this by saying thank you, thank you to all those who participate in athletics for the sheer love of the sport, the sheer love of pushing the body to its limits.  The human body is already the most amazing thing on this planet, and its beautiful to see it tested in ways that I find hard to watch because of sympathetic pain.  Thank you for letting me get caught up in the emotion of the moment of your winning, as I share tears of joy that you achieved this wonderful dream.  You are all truly an inspiration, of peace, harmony, friendly competition, and what human’s can achieve if they try.  Thank you Olympians, thank you.
