One Month Left Until Wedding!

It is now less than one month until my wedding, and we are definitely feeling the rush here in the Brainless Nod Household.  Yeesh....  Luckily we have everything in order that we can control, and are both looking forward to the date.

It’s been a wonderfully crazy experience so far.  A wedding definitely tests a couple’s connection.  One person wants certain things, the other wants other things.  Luckily Lisa and I have really had no real issues with wars over the little things.  Sure, we both can get bent out of shape, but it’s a good lesson in how to work together to the best of each other’s abilities.

I think the funniest, and saddest, thing about the wedding is how many people have just up and invited themselves.  I know I made a good enemy on FaceBook when I called someone out on it.  Lisa had posted how many days we had, and then someone said, “I can’t wait to go!”  I fired back how the person couldn’t have been that good a friend, if I had lived in this house for two years, and had no clue who she was....

Fact is, we are going for a very small wedding.  Mainly because every friend and relative that I have coming in, is driving three to eight hours to get here, so my guest list is going to be very small, and we didn’t want my friends and family to feel like a minority being dwarfed by the entire town and country side of where we live here in Oklahoma.  So, we came up with a great plan to combat the situation....

I’m the bad guy!  Yay!  I was put in charge of the guest list, so therefore I have final say.  This helps us weed out the people that haven’t even called to say hello in two to five years.  People who Lisa no longer knows, but are still friends with on Facebook.

What is it about people that makes them lose their tact anyways?  We have one guest that we still feel obligated to allow in, though we really don’t want to.  But they were all happy about having bought us a wedding gift already.... *sigh*

But yeah, its gotten to the point, we are appointing someone to stand at the door and turn people away if they don’t have invitations.  I never really thought that the biggest problem we’re having, is trying to keep the affair as small and intimate as possible.  In the end, I just can’t wait to see my friends and know they get to feel so happy for me.  They’ve been waiting a very long time for me to find some kind of happiness, and I’m honored that so many of them are willing to travel so far to witness and join in on this happy day of mine.

For those of you out there that are married, what was the worst part of your wedding, or wedding planning?  I know each day is as perfect as it can be, but there’s always something or someone that tries to get you, but luckily can’t....  Anyways, I’m curious to see some comments and what people went through on their own weddings, or wedding planning.  As I have one month left, I’d definitely take some advice as well!
